When my wife said she would like to read my blog, her reaction on finding it was about economics, made the sound ‘uurgh’ and decided not to read my blog. Unfortunately her reaction is all too often the one most people have about economics. This means few have any understanding of economics, meaning that the nature and content of the subject is decided by the few. In the UK the few tend to be the Neo-Liberal Economists who dominate the economic debate. They can get away with making outrageous assertions, because few have the understanding of the subject necessary to challenge them.

What I hope to do is find a language for writing economics which makes it accessible for all, so a small self appointed elite can no longer dominate the subject. Also I hope to suggest different answers to those given by orthodox economists, when offering solutions to the problems that affect our economies in the West.
